LINDA WISE MDA BIOGRAPHY: DECEMBER 10-1999
Linda has enjoyed painting all her life. Her fascination with experimenting with the new and unusual has allowed her to develop many new design concepts and background 'faux finish' presentations.
Linda received her CDA in 1978 and her MDA in 1982. From 1982 until 1987, she was very active with the Society of Decorative Painters serving on their Board of Directors, on the Certification Committee and then chairing that committee for 3 years. Linda has taught both theory and technique classes at the last 20 National Conventions
She has authored 4 Decorative Art books and numerous articles for the various painting magazines. Over the past 10 years, she has been publishing her own DESIGN BOOKLETS that contain one large, or several smaller/ but related designs in her presentations of ART ON FURNITURE. These presentations are all done in JoSonja Acrylics but appear to the public to have been painted in oils! In order for the various techniques to be easily executed, Linda has developed her own line of ART ON FURNITURE BRUSHES.
Linda teaches several travel workshops a year along with her yearly advanced workshops in California and Canada. The rest of her time is spent creating new designs for the 6 DAY STUDIO SCHOOLS that are held in her home studio 7 times a year. These schools are for the serious students interested in learning and developing the various ART ON FURNITURE techniques that are used to create the individual artists desired effects. In nearly every class, the students are representative of many different countries and thoroughly enjoy sharing their cultures and their own versions of ART ON FURNITURE teaching and painting techniques. In 1992, Linda had the opportunity to travel to Australia to teach for the Chroma Paint Company (JoSonja Paint). Linda has been teaching yearly in Japan since 1995. In October of 1999, the Linda Wise School of Art on Furniture was opened in 5 different sites in Japan under the sponsorship of the Julian Company. In November of 2000, she will introduce some of these techniques in Argentina.
Linda's career has led her into the Interior Design market with the increasing desire for CUSTOMIZED DESIGNS on unusual furniture items. She and members of her design team attend the International Markets in Atlanta yearly to research the latest trends and design ideas. This allows her to develop designs that are not trendy, but 'timeless'.
Please feel free to browse through her various designs. If you are not sure of sizes or techniques request a printed catalogue. All questions will be answered as promptly as possible.
